II. Focussed Practice.

  • 1. Fill in the word-fork.

  • 2. Give your associations with the following words: cucumber, carrot, tomatoes, potatoes, onion, bananas, cherries, oranges, apples, grapes.

  • 3. Make up sentences with the alone-mentioned words. Do it in chain.

  • 4. Let's play a game. Form 2 circles (a big one and a small one) to face each other. Collect information about your group mates' preferences in food among fruits and vegetables, while moving in different directions. Then share your information with the others and make a conclusion what vegetables and fruit are favourite ones in your group.

  • 5. Use your gestures to show the fruit or vegetable which is on the card. The rest of the pupils are to guess, which fruit/vegetable you represent.

  • Ш. Communicative practice.

  • 1. Write down 5 things which you can find in a shopping basket of:

  • a) a good housewife;

  • b) a divorced man;

  • c) a woman on a diet;

  • d) a heavy eater;

  • e) someone expecting guests.

  • 2. Divided into 2 groups and make 2 salads.

  • Make up an advertisement for your salads.

  • 3. Look at the following table rules and compose your own.

  • 1) Don't put your elbows on the table.

  • 2) Don't speak while eating.

  • 4. Write down an advertisement of your favourite fruit or vegetable. Look at the example:

  • "Try the sweetest and the most tasty apples in the world".

  • 5. Choose one vegetable or fruit you like and imagine that you are this vegetable. Think of 5 sentences in which you can describe yourself.

  • Each sentence should begin with "I am...", for example: I'm sweet or I like to make people cry. Say your sentences to the audience. Try to give complicated characteristics so that others can't guess what fruit or vegetable you bear in mind.

  • 6. Look at the menu and choose the meals as if you were:

  • a) two gluttons;

  • b) two students dying from starvation;

  • c) models on a diet.
